"Brewed up on the double-secret CBC pilot brewery, this pumpkin stout is brewed with cacao nibs from Taza chocolate, smoked ancho pepper, and whole cinnamon sticks. Served via our nitrogen faucet for a super-creamy pumpkin experience."
Served via nitro-pour into a pint glass at the Cambridge Brewing Company during their Great Pumpkin Festival held on 10/31/08.
Pours black with a 1/2 finger of creamy mocha colored tan head. That stays pretty sturdy, coating the sides of the glass with massive amounts of lace. The aroma is roasted chocolate goodness, a strong whiff of cinnamon, and some warm peppery notes.
The taste is smooth and chocolately with a tingling underlying current of pumpkin spices but it's the smoked peppers that really make this beer shine, heading up a finish with a lingering slow burn that warms the lips. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side with a fantastic smooth and creamy feel from the nitro.
This was probably the consensus favorite of our group during the event. Quite flavorful (and the pepper notes didn't distract from the drinkibility) with a huge sessionalbility thanks to the creamy body and sub 4% ABV. I could have drank this all night if there hadn't been other great Pumpkin Ales to try as well.
