Pours a cloudy, golden tinted, straw color. Topped by a thin white head that fades to nothing. The aroma is floral with ginger and peppery spice. Swirling brings out a bit of pumpkin, yeast and a grassy undertone.

Neutral toasty malts upfront. Sweet through the center with a nice pumpkin flavor that melds with the ginger spice. The finish is grassy with some citric hints, peppery, yeasty and mildly bitter. Highly carbonated, medium-bodied with a lightly dry feel in the finish.

An interesting mix of flavors. Sweet overall, but the spices help moderate.

"This pumpkin saison, or 'Biere du Gourd' if you will, is brewed with our house Belgian yeast, pilsner malt, lots of Farm School pumpkins in the mash and kettle, and a touch of ginger, black peppercorn, and orange. Dry, effervescent, and delicious."

Served on tap into a Tulip glass at the Cambridge Brewing Company during their Great Pumpkin Festival on 10/31/08. This was called 'Gourd of the Rings' at the brewpub, a name I personally find considerbly cooler than 'Biere du Gourd'.

Pours a hazy golden orange that arrives with pretty much no head at all but some swirling does help bring out a little bit of retention and lacing. The aroma is thick with some fairly prominent pumpkin meat but I'm also picking up some orange citrus, spices, and yeast in the back. All in all, this is pretty deep with just a touch of warmth lying underneath the other notes.

The taste is roasted pumpkin meat once again standing out, surrounded by a tingling mix of spices and yeast in the backend. Finishes with a yeasty citric tang that lingers with a dryer feel. The mouthfeel is fuller bodied with a some alcohol heft to it. Low carbonation gives things a more viscous feel that allows the bigger flavors to flow.

Another well done effort here, once again giving a style a unique "pumpkin twist". And I really liked this one too, as it rather prominently featured the actual pumpkin meat in it and not just the related spices. The ABV kept the drinkibility down a bit for me (although I was happy with just my one glass) but this was still very nice.
