Cloudy golden straw beer with a thin white lace. Fruity esters, banana, spice (clove) and phenols in the aroma. Crisp, light-bodied, fruity backdrop with a coarse mouthfeel. Mildly sweet & malty. Sharp lemon-y, bitter bite that is followed by a yeasty/spicy clove edge which rides into the finish.

I little less malty and alcoholic than previous years (5.5%), but this is still a delicious Hefeweizen, and one that I look forward to each summer. Skoal to Will Meyers!

Presentation: On tap.

Appearance: Cloudy pale golden with a spritzy and lively carbonated white lace.

Smell: Yeast, clove, fruit and grain in the nose.

Taste: Crisp with a biting spicy clove, undertones of fruit and yeast with some malty wheat grain. Hop bitterness is there but minimal, cleanish after taste with some lingering grain, very mild phenols and clove followed by a warming alcohol.

Notes: Well attenuated and bursting with flavour ... on the high side of alcohol for the style yet does not get in the way. This is more than your standard bland American wheat Ale ... it is the real thing, German all the way.

On-tap at the brewpub.

Pours a hazy lemon-yellow color with a bright white head that leaves decent lacing.

Smells of crisp light malts with good amounts of wheat twang and breadiness. Underlying everything are solid amounts of ripe banana and clove aromas.

Tastes similar to how it smells, though not quite as robust. Smooth light malts with generous contributions from wheat up front are joined quickly by ripe banana flavors. Midway through mild amounts of breadiness and clove come into play, carrying through to a mildly bitter ending. Mouthfeel is good, with smooth carbonation.

Overall I was very impressed with this beer, a very good example for the style that’s well worth a shot.

14 oz glass on tap

pours an un-real Yellow/straw color. Very deep, very cloudy.

smells and tastes of wheat (duh), grains, yeast and lemmons.

extremely refreshing on this 90 + degree day, later cooled down by some mid afternoon thunder storms.

One of my alltime favorite examples of this beer. Nice job CBC.

On-tap at the brewery, poured into a tall pilsener glass.

Appearance: What I love a Hefe to look like: dirty, but bright, with a good cloudiness and murkiness. Good bright white head settling at the top around the smaller cylindrical part of the glass.

Smell: This thing's fresh and very pungent. Big notes of spicy yeast, mild earthy phenolics, clove and banana, and malt sweetness. Possibly some spiciness because of the hops. Very surprising, as my friend and I have often had conversations about Hefeweizens at smaller places like this not being the best, but this is pretty big and wild.

Taste: Good initial fruit esters with banana and clove, with some peppery spice from the yeast, some nice sweetness from the malt balancing the hops, also bringing some citrus and spice. Long mildly phenolic and fruit estery finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a good creaminess and a nice burst of carbonation at the end.

Drinkability: I was impressed with this brew. It was perfect weather for a Hefe, and this exceeded my expectations. Had we hit this place at the end of our weekend rather than the beginning, a growler would've been in hand.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Tons of lace that follows a yellow body with noticeable white head. Creamy mouthfeel, clean and refreshing taste. Good example of the style. Fresh aroma. Yeast, only mildly citrus, and a bit bannana. Not too sweet, yet very drinkable.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a disappearing white lace. The aroma is wheat, honey, summer fruits, coriander, and some other earthy spices. The taste on the palate starts acidic and tart with a bready sweetness that tantalizes the tastebuds with honey, orange, lemon, all spice, that is sweet and malty which coats the palate and finishes lite and clean.

As with many Hefeweizens this poured a cloudy light gold to yellow. It had a pleasant head that stayed for quite a while, but much lace. The aroma was a nice mix of cloves and citrus (banana), with a little malt on the back. The taste was light and refreshing. It had the cloves and definitely a hint of banana towards the middle. This is a nice Hefeweizen. It had non of the chemical taint that you get on some American attempts at the beer. It had a nice light mouthfeel, and is very drinkable. Especially n a hot summer day.

Served in weizen glass...proper!

Honey cloudy with no head at all-orange zest in color

Aroma has good closing speed - yeast and wheat electricity is bountiful with nice coriander and zest

Rolls pretty bitter-almost Pilsener-like. Wheat in background is nice-more full-flavored than expected

Rolls very clean-austere grassy bite on the finish but very palate cleansing

Bulkier than average hefe but nice

@ the brewpub.

Translucent, dark hay color with a hearty dish soap head. Big lacey patch down the middle of my glass like a Christmas tree.

Smells liek clove and just ripe, partially green banana. Tastes like clove and just ripe, partially green banana. Spritzy. There's a soapy residue that coats my mouth after each sip that I'm not a fan of.

on tap at Redbone's

Gently poured from the tap to produce no head over a cloudy orangey lemon. Smells faintly sour. Filled with thick tangy bubbles, it tastes very lemony, tart and funky with more funk in the finish. Easy to drink, if a bit dull. Great, I've already gone from being totally weirded out by my first hefe, to bored by this one.

Pint poured into Hefe glass at Brewpub in Cambridge.

A: Looked great in the tall hefeweizen glass. Puffy and darker shade with a nice head and lacing. Remarkedly hazy and cloudy- wow, borderline opaque.

N: Yeastiness is the first thing, cloves and wheat are there but masked a bit by the banana. Smells are quality on this one. This was perfect for the brutally hot day- couldnt have had a more enticing aroma.

T: Great. The best I have had from a brewpub by far. The banana was powerful without being overboard. There is a hint of lemon that comes on as it is warmed down a bit but just delicious overall. Not as mealy as the appearance would lead you to think, an awesome beer. This is, I hate to say it, weihenstephaner caliber.

M: As I said, lighther than you would have thought by looking at it but great for the style. The wheat left from the mouthfeel really polished it well.

D: Through the roof. Drank a few after having some of the other offerings and went perfect with the mango salad and the tuna dish on a hot night.

Great stuff- I wish I didnt have such a long drive back because I would have liked to bave taken a few growlers back to Jersey. Good job on this one.

Tap at Tavern in the Square Northborough

Nice creamy almost 1 finger head fades at a med pace, super hazy orange golden color.

Nose brings great hefe aromas, plenty of wheat, creamy wheat, little orange peel, mild esters, coriander clove like spices, etc.

Taste more standards, creamy wheat, nice big wheat flavor, into the citrus, little orange peel, mild esters and spices, coriander, clove, etc. Lighter but nice flavor, hint of bitterness. Finish is dry but a little sticky creamy feeling, little lingering orange peel and spices, and more wheat.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, nice creamy wheat, decent carb.

Overall a well done hefe for an American made beer, very solid, but then again I would expect nothing less from cbc.
