A pale-amber beer with malted barley, wheat, Munich and Vienna malts, Chinook, Sorachi Ace, Cascade, and Simcoe, blended to create a palate of intense lemon/grapefruit/mandarin citrus, resin, and pine. Fermentation with our house Belgian strain augments the hop and malt character with complex spice and fruit.

Poured on-tap and served in a shaker pint at the brewpub, the beer is a bright, ruby-orange coloring with a slick, filmy, clingy surface coat of head. Nose of rye, toasted cereal, and a subtle kiss of hops bitterness. Pretty layered aromas. Flavors of all-grain, toasted, forward. Wow! Like falling into a grain silo. Rye and wheat forward, with a subtle roasted backbone. Citrus and floral blast, with berry highlights come forward, making this a very interesting palate. Smooth, light bodied, with a spicy and toasty aftertaste. Finish has a slight toasty linger. Very unique.

Had a tulip of this today ($5.50) during lunch at the brewpub with Alewife...
It was a mostly clear, deep copper color. Head was a super-fine, creamy, thin layer of off-white foam, with very good lacing. Nose was quite mild, with rindy hops being about all I could discern. Body was a little less than medium, though it did have a smooth feel on the tongue.
I got a slight bit of toasty malt sweetness at the outset, but it soon became overly bitter. It was very, very rindy and pithy, with alittle pine in there. It was almost herbal and minty, too, and was quite dry. Did I mention it was bitter? Not quite my cup of bier... Needs more sweetness and some actual citrus, imo... Prosit!
