Pours a dark brown color with a puffy off white head and lace. Aroma is herbal upfront and sweet and malty on the back end. Kinda has an aroma like stepping into a pine forest.
In the taste, malty and roasted with a crisp piney hop bite with some herb and citrus flavor. A nice balance between bitter and sweet, this would probably be considered by most to be a hoppy brew. There are certainly more aggressive black IpAs out there in terms of hop bitterness.
Medium bodied with a medium-high level of carbonation. Small hop bite, finishes clean. Overall, this is a good entry level black ipa, which is as accessible as it is hop forward.

Blindfold is not a big in your face black ipa. It does not contain a huge ABV, no long alcohol finish, no acute hop twinge. What blindfold is a well crafted, well balanced ale. Plenty of roasted malt flavor, but the blend of summit and cascade hops really brings it all together. Really well done!

Appearance - Pours deep and near black with cola brown edging and a finger's worth of khaki colored head. Good retention, resulting in a thin a layer of surface suds. Small, spotty lacing with good stick.
Smell - Notes of coffee, light chocolate and some citrus hoppiness.
Taste - Roasted coffee malt base, but this thing is mostly hops. Big citrus notes that hit on orange and grapefruit pith, along with touches of pine. Ghostly notes of chocolate. Roasted depth isn't quite where I'd like it, but the juicy orange character in the finish is nice.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair, tingly carbonation. Goes down easy enough. Fairly dry finish.
Overall - Seems to have more hop character than the original "Beer Camp" variant, while still maintaining that nice roast malt base, and for me that's a plus. This is a beer I might consider buying a sixer of from time to time... if that day were to come.

Poured a big foamy head on a black body. The aroma is rich roasted malt with lemon coming in second. The taste starts with smooth roasted malt with moderate lemon bitterness. Nice balance. The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation. Really good..

Pours a crimson hued mahogany with a thumb of tan head. Stellar head retention & lacing
S: Roastyness, a little bit of orange peel
T: Roasty, a bit of pine , grapefruit & charred grain up front. More pineyness & roastyness, plus a touch of minty & grapefruitty hops as this warms, a bit of astringency & chocolate. Finishes slightly chocolately with charred grain & pine, slightly dry
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, nicely balanced
My favorite of the 4 in this twelve pack, great example the style done right
