Appearance 3.5: Pours out a translucent golden yellow. Not much of a head and I cranked the pour just to make sure. Decent lacing.

Smell 3.75: Good bouquet. Very nice blending of spicy Belgian yeast and high-alpha hops (yes, I typed "alpha"). Also some hints of golden malt in here.

Taste 3.75: Front is bitter and this runs right into the Middle, which is where the maltiness slowly seeps in and at a very low level. There is a sweetness here, but I am thinking it is an added Belgian "candi" sugar. Very nice hop blend here, almost like a Falconer's Flight flavor profile. Finish is where some very nice honey flavors come in and are tempered by the bitterness of the hops. Aftertaste was where some corn-type flavors presented and also moe of the all-around hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel 3.75: Great mouthfeel; creamy and a great complement to the beer.

Overall 3.75: Very hoppy Belgian Golden/Pale Ale, maybe the hoppiest I have ever had. La Chouff puts out a Belgian IPA and this brew reminds me very much of that beer. Maybe that would be the way to market this one if it is ever brewed again: Belgian IPA. Good beer, but the hops take it way outside the guidelines for the style.

Joining forces with Allagash brewers, the fusion of Belgian-minded efforts converge. This time with a timeless and charming Belgian pale ale that doesn't polarize or contempt- just a refreshing taste and racing feel that makes this session way too quick.

Opening with a bright golden hue, the ale pretends to be champagne, even in its frothy column of foam. A lemon, apple and orange medley tantalizes the nose, along with a tickle of white pepper, faint coriander and cumin. Initial taste is dryly malted with short-lived sweetness and peps of light bread and whole grain.

Arrested sweetness quickly dissolves over the tongue while a zesty but playful acidity takes hold. Equipped with a bubbly feel, its sparkling white wine texture reads white grape, citrus fruit and a corkish taste that's reminiscent of straw and fresh-cut grass.

Its fast-fleeting finish scrubs the thirst from the palate as a texture and minerally taste of seltzer water allows "table beer" Belgianesque character to assume. Dry in finish, a slight tang and carbonic bite closes the taste with echoes of fruit and spice hovering above.

Packaged 6/3/14.

Pours a hazy golden-yellow with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, earth, spice, Belgian yeast, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, earth, spice, and Belgian yeast flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of yeast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with lots of nice earthy aromas and flavors.

In a tulip, this beer was a light golden color. There was a medium-sized white head with a little bit of lace.

Aroma primarily pine and spice. There was a little bit of citrus, as well as a little sweetness.

Spice up front in the taste. Coriander. Some pine. There was a bit of grapefruit that came in late. A hint of candy.

Light in body, nicely hopped. This turned out to be an excellent early morning beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy gold with a huge white meringue head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is musty fruit, some spice. bubblegum and a little piney hop.

The flavor is sweet doughy malts , coriander and a little fruit with some piney hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a solid Belgian pale. I like the hop / yeast combo.

A: Golden Straw coloring with decent white lacing

S: Obviously smells of Belgian yeast, not overwhelming

T: Big let down. Even while it tastes like a Belgian beer, the taste is very underwhelming and with a bitter aftertaste.

M: OK, nothing to write home about

O: I know a lot of people are hating on the Beer Camp stuff and I really think the 12 pack is a great idea, even if the beers aren't all rated 90+ but I do think this beer is very sub par. I have had better beers from brand new breweries so I am not sure how Sierra Nevada decided who made the cut to be in this. This was the worst beer I have had from the 12 pack so far, the others have been pretty good.
