12oz bottle poured into a 12oz pilsner. Packaged 06/03/14.

Pours clear ruby-brown with a big fluffy head, dissipates slowly leaving a tower in the midlde, and lots of lacing sheeting the glass. Medium to high amount of carbonation. Smell is bread and honeyslightly spicy. Yeasty, roasty.

Taste is roasty, surprisingly bitter, spicy. Is there rye in this? Doesn't look like it, but something about the spicy nature of this beer suggests it.

Mouthfeel is thick and chewy. Overall, it's pretty good.

Poured from bottle into pint glass. Very dark for an altbier. I don't recall that dark a color in others. Very nice looking beer with 1 finger frothy head. Has a very nice smell of bread baking and dough. Taste is also very awesome. Sweet bready upfront and crisp and hoppy finish. Not too bitter but some lingering that is a touch off IMO. Mouthfeel is a tad thin for a sweet bready beer.

Overall this is another solid beer in the Beer Camp series. Like others its not world class or mind blowing but solid.

aroma is noticeably mineral, earthy. I am guessing hop for the former, not water, but I am not sure. Bit of spiciness, very faint lemon, like a faux noble hop like Liberty. Faint esters, well in background. Definite hint of caramel, more as it warms, but mostly toasty bread crust-type malt notes. more hop and a hint of yeast than malt here. nothing off, if you don't consider the strength of the mineral character to be so. It's not quite Spalt, but I could see the comparison.

pours a sorta brown and sorta copper/bronze color. excellent clarity, topped with 1" of dense tan foam. very good looking beer.

initial (cold) sip is balanced heavily towards hops, but it moved significantly in the direction of evenly balanced by the time it warmed. more caramel than in aroma. esters are noted but well in background, adding only faint complexity and barely out of "clean lager" territory. seems fresh. medium-high hop flavor, spicy, and quite mineral. finish is somewhat dry, with a slightly lingering sweet malt flavor and sharp, long-lingering bitterness. very faint alcohol.

gotta be upper 40's to upper 50's IBUs here. seems a bit much, not necessarily for the style, but for the beer underneath it. Very enjoyable though. if I could get the balance it's got at room temperature, but 20 degrees colder, it'd be amazing to me. no warming alcohol or hop-based astringency, though the sharpness is distracting at times. Fairly crisp. Would drink again any time.

A-Pours a clear, copper color. Thin, pale tan head that dies off to an outer ring. Not much lace.

S-Toasted malt, caramel and a slight tang that hard to describe. Almost musky. Not picking up much of the hop flavor described on the label.

T-The flavor is much sharper. Almost astringent. Sneaky bitter flavor. Root beer. Caramel malt and all it's sister sweetness flavors. Finishes earthy and surprisingly dry.

M-Medium bodied. I noticed the alcohol. Soft carbonation.

O-Missed the mark. Was not high on this one. Surprised because Victory was the tag team partner here. Goes to show that much more often than not, when it comes to brewing beer, one head is better than two.

Aroma: Medium sweet caramel and sweet bread malt aroma. Very light earthy hop notes. Light pear and apple yeast ester profile. No DMS, No diacetyl.

Appearance: Ruby copper with brown highlights, brilliantly clear. Thin dense slightly off white head that lingers very quickly.

Flavor: Balanced between malt and hop bitterness in the flavor. Medium bitterness, hop flavor is citrus peel and a bit of rind. Malt flavor is a neutral sweet bread with a bit of caramel. No DMS, No diacetyl.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with bright carbonation. Carbonation gives the beer an almost champagne like brightness. No astringency. Bitterness lingers on the sides of the tongue.

Overall: Very inviting malt forward malt aroma. BItterness is prominent but pleasing in the flavor. Well made beer, I would drink many more. I will seek it out on tap.
