350ml bottle, poured into a Delerium Tremens glass
2007 Vintage, 6.9%
Pours with a rich amber body, orangey overtones and a little cloudiness from the bottle conditioning. Half inch dense off white slightly yellowed head with good retention, settles down a little though. Large balls of lacing spatter the glass
Smell, freshly cut grass, biscuity malt and a tiny bit of mustiness. Goldings hops on the nose perhaps, a small degree of soapiness on the nose too
Taste, initially a little bit of slightly sweet fragrant hops followed by a sharp ballsy kick of slighly one dimensional hop bitterness. Biscuity and slightly bready malt, dry yeast on the finish along with an underlying lasting quinine esque bitterness. Some slight fruitiness from the hops followed by a somewhat perfumy bitterness
I discovered this at my local offy, didnt't think that they would make the effort and get something this newly available in the UK. A big full bodied IPA which does definately hold fast to its english roots, the hops are slighly one dimensional in terms of flavour and bitterness and the aroma is pretty limited. That said its a tasty ale with lots of flavour
