12 oz. stubby, 2007 version. A rough pour delivers a two inch, sticky head atop a coppery, hazed, and lightly carbonated body. It smells of earthy hops, with a light backing of buttery malts, and piney, perfumy, floral, and citric notes emerging as it warms. The flavor follows this closely, with an assertive bitterness quickly subduing any notions of the mildly sweet, carmel malts provided for ballast. The body is medium and quite smooth, (but a bit too low in carbonation) with a long, enjoyable finish. Overall a well crafted IPA. I like the hop usage here (American for bitterness, British for aroma), as it makes this beer stand out a bit more in the large field of IPAs. Definitely worth a try - make sure to keep an eye out for this seasonal.
