Part of the 2016 Sierra Nevada Beer Camp variety pack - $29.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown body with a small, short-lived, light beige head.
Smell: A slight earthy, sweet-smelling aroma of dark bread, molasses, chocolate with a slight milky vibe. Dark fruitiness. Scant powdered licorice, a little bitter herb.
Taste: Cocoa-dosed dark brown breadiness with sweet suggestions of honey, molasses and cooked brown sugar. Earthy roastiness but also a nutty bent. Moderately sweet. A fig, plum fruitiness. Restrained bitterness throughout. Light licorice and an uninterrupted fruitiness into the semi-dry finish with a small hint of alcohol warmth.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. A little slick smoothness on the mouthfeel.
Overall: A pleasingly malty brew. Though I’m one shy of going through the offerings in the pack (West Latitude), this may be my favorite of the mix this year.

June 23rd, 2016 - Another Beer Camp Brew, this bottle offers a curious but alluring smell of steak and blueberry. I wouldn't have expected this mixture to resonate with me, but it reminds me a little of a dish I had at the Native American museum cafeteria in DC, mixing indigenous ingredients between a meaty main course and a subtle but fruity based sauce. And here it is on the nose, and I'm quite enjoying it. The flavor is less engaging, but still good, with a toasty, roasted malt note at its core, and a slight soda-like sweetness.

Bottled 4/5/16; drank 5/13/16 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice khaki head; decent lace.
Honeyed wheat & brown sugar notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Dry honey & faint brown sugar flavors up front; mild hop bite & faint booze heat notes on the finish.
Interesting but just misses being great; a hint too mild overall.

12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter.
A- Deep brown. Head is brown as well, and quite bubbly. Reminiscent of a cola. Though this retains better. Little lacing.
S- Roast and a lot of sweet notes: burnt sugar, vanilla, cocoa. Also a faint bit woody, with a little alcohol. Great depth in this aroma.
T- Rich roast, semisweet chocolate smoothness. Flavor brings out an earthy hop character as well.
M- Body is full and velvety. The finish has a nice crisp dryness to it, maybe from the addition of rice?
O- Great depth in the nose. Nice feel to this one, too.

THIS BOTTLE PACKAGED 04/06/16 AND CELLARED. Opened & enjoyed on 11/21/17. Pours a clear deep , garnet hued brown producing almost 2 fingers of frothy, mocha, somewhat lasting head that that recedes to a nice cap of foam leaving a wash of thin sticky lacing. Aroma is RICH deeply roasted & dark bready malts, Hershey chocolate syrup, molasses, vanilla/wood, nuts & dark fruits. Taste is fronted by Hershey chocolate syrup, dark bread, sweet, caramel, molasses, burnt malt tones, earthy/leafy, pepper & alcohol. There is also a hint of sourness. Finishes sweet transitioning to mildly bittersweet in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy bodied with moderate carbonation, silky, mouth coating creamy, lightly chewy, prickly & with a hint of chalkiness in the aftertaste. Comparing notes on bottles consumed fresh I find that aging has transitioned this from average into a very good Imperial Brown Ale.

Yeah, this was old...really old when I had this as the date on the back of the bottle read 4/5 of last year. I ended up with this and another bottle from the Beer Camp Pack that I bought for a friend and if any of the others were as enjoyable as this, I made a mistake by not buying this for myself!
Good pour to this as the hazelnut brown hue was quite appealing, and topped off with a head of bread; which was full of big bubbles. This had the aroma of a brown ale with some nuts, mild honey, and plenty of booze. The wild rice came out in the taste as this felt quite grainy and full. Roasted and reminiscent of toasted malt, this felt like an Imperial Brown ale down to the mild stickiness. There was a bit of hop slickness in here too as this felt chewy and nutty , on top of everything else that was going on here.
Plenty of potency here as the booze could be felt, even if it wasn't tasted. As to be expected, this was fun stuff that slid down easily. Never felt the cocoa nibs but when you're enjoying something like this so much, who's to notice? This was a Brown Ale with plenty of body, mild hops, and flavor. A welcome change from the usual Sierra Nevada offering!

12 oz. Bottle
Pours a pretty nice brown color, with some nice carbonation, with a nice small creamy light tan head, which leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, roasty. The taste is malty, nutty, roasty. Medium body. Overall, a pretty tasty brew.

S: Cocoa, dark chocolate bitter notes, Smells more sweet than bitter.
