Amber/deep brown/orange color with a medium beige head
Strong hop presence along with caramel, malt and citrus
Malty, sweet and sugary come through first. Caramel and toffee emerge in the middle and it finishes with the strong taste of hops that lingers for a while. Mild alcohol presence, but is masked well for the most part.
I don’t drink barley wines too often, usually they are a bit too sweet for my liking, but on a cold Chicago winter’s evening, this really did the trick. Admittedly I haven’t experienced a ton of barley wines, but this one is my go to if I want one. Had 2 of them while watching TV and they hit me pretty well, so be careful!
