12oz bottle poured into a snifter. This one pours a golden, light orange color with a substantial head. The head is bone white and soapy, but lasts mere moments before fading away. Left behind is some sparse soap-scum lacing, which is quite appealing to the eyes.
Nose is a bouquet of delicate floral hops, rich malts and citrus.
Bready malts and fresh hops intrinsically work together in this beer. A great example of an American pale ale.
SNPA is medium body and oh so easy to drink. It is smooth and creamy on the palate with an abv slightly too high to justify it as a session beer. Sierra Nevada Pale is one of the quintessential beers that got me into craft brews.

12oz can into tulip
A: Deep goldenrod hue, a bit hazy without being completely opaque. Pouring for effect yielded a nice two and a half finger head of a paper white color - moderate to light retention. Lacing is minimal, but present. Carbonation is visible and the body appears medium to light
S: Sweet pine mixed with apricot, peach, and traces of very light mango. Mild resinous aroma – oak and fresh pine needles – juicy characteristics along with some spicy renderings – Citrus peel and minced ginger. Tail end of the nose is sweet and tropical.
T: Dry and resinous initially, mixture of oak bark and pine, notes of dry earth and peat, fresh grass with piquant notes of lemon citrus in the background. Crisp and diverse on the palate – the middle mouth introduces some maltier elements that articulate the caramel backbone while also being a bit bready. The light fruits from the nose are even more suppressed on the palate, only contributing a transient zest. The finish moves from zesty back to wood-bready hybrid, very well balanced.
M: Medium body, with medium-light carbonation – solid mouth feel, copes with the palate nicely – easy drinking – Aftertaste is dry but sweet.
O: One of my first craft beers and a delicious one at that. Finally sat down to review. This beer essentially began a revolution and remains a solid go to today. Fabulously balanced with superior drinkability. An easy choice anyone looking for craft brew
