Nice amber appearance with big head and excellent lacing. A little cloudy and had big chunks floating in it. Other bottles I've had of this also had chunks. I don't mind this.
This smells nice and hoppy with a marmalade or orange theme on the nose. The cascade hop really shines through and there's a complex but subtle mix of pine and citrus aromas.
The taste is very well balanced between malt and hops. The bitterness is quite noticeable and very pleasant with it's citric hop character. This beer reminded me in a strange way of Pilsner Urquell in that it has some significant hop bitterness but remains very easy to drink and tastes sessionable. Being an ale the flavour is way stronger than Urquell and much more fruity so the comparison must end there
I kicked off an evening with this at home before going out and it made a very tasty first beer and made me decide to put this widely available U.S. beer in my regular rotation
