Way overdue review here. Geez...even after I acquired a taste for craft, it was even longer after that I acquired a taste for Sierra Nevada and damn was the wait worth it!

Really, this is the staple Pale Ale. Better for my palate than the other readily available Pale Ale Mirror Pond. The only Pale Ales I prefer over this one are ones that call themselves Pales but really drink like IPAs. (Alpha King and Drake's 1500 to name a few especially these days)

Doughy and grainy malt bill with a nice floral Hoppy pop, finishing bitter and earthy...just how I like it.

Similar to PtE, still argued the best of it's respective style even though created years and years back. (SNPA WAYYYY back further than PtE but you get the picture) There has been plenty of time to improve upon the style but hard to improve upon the benchmark.

A: pours a murky orange yellow. Two fingers if rocky white head. Awesome lacing. Good retention.

S: pretty malty beast with some citrus and floral peeking through.

T: again with the good malt presence. Hops are muted compared to some of the west coast pales ive had. Citrus pops up in the end with a bitterness coming through to keep it balanced.

M: Great mouthfeel. Full bodied.

O: the quintessential west coast brew. One of the very original. This is my go to in bars that don't have a great selection of beer.

I had this beer awhile ago and didn't think much of it, but ended up getting a case of it at costco just recently. And I'm glad I did. The lacing on the glass is really nice. More noticeable than on other beers i've had.

The smell is farely mild. Nice floral hops up front with grains in the back.

The taste follows very nicely. The hops aren't over powering at all. Overall I really like this beer. Definitely worth the price. Sierra Nevada always gets it right.

Pours an almost clear gold to amber with a creamy head that revives easily with a swirl.

Grassy and grapefruit citrus hop aromas up front, followed by a bready malt. Clean yeast character: no esters or phenols.

Flavor has a smooth bitterness that is moderately assertive throughout, but doesn't linger much. Some citrusy hop flavor. Bready and toasty malt. Very balanced beer by today's pale ale standards.

Slightly grainy mouthfeel, bitterness dissipates quickly leaving a moderately dry finish, but less dry than many pale ales. Creamy foamy carbonation provides some body and a smooth mouthfeel.

It's a classic. Still worth returning to. Very drinkable too.
