Serving: Bottle poured into pint glass
Served: 28 Aug 2013
Brewed: 23 July 2013
Appearance: A copper-reddish color with a nice one finger head that collapses to just a ring of foam around the edge. Little carbonation coming up from the bottom of the glass. Frothy semi-dirty looking head.
Smell: Great balance of malt and hop here. The aroma hops won't whack you over the face, but they are present in the nose. Sweeter smelling malts play great with the smell of the hops.
Taste: A more intense version of the nose. Great interplay between malts and slightly bitter hops. A nice assertive bitter-citrus hop quality is balanced with malt that allows the palate to remain fresh and conditioned for another sip. The hops are not too strong, but can certainly be tasted slightly. A masterfully balanced taste.
Mouthfeel: Great carbonation allows this one to feel thicker on the tongue than the beer actually is, allowing it to be enjoyable for some time in the glass.
Overall: This is my standard for comparison for APAs. Sierra Nevada has a fantastic, delicious beer here that is easy to compare to others in the style in all categories, especially color and hoppiness. This is a go-to beer for me due to it's balanced flavors, yet noticeable complexity.

The beer pours clear golden colour with a slight haze and a full two finger head that fades to a full ring and center cap and has nice light lacing.
The aroma is of sweet pale malt, mild biscuity yeast, citrus and some piney hops.
The taste is fairly malty then citrusy mid way through, a little honey mixed in then a mild pine hop presence finishes the beer off ending mildly dry and slightly peppery. Balanced well!
Mouthfeel is light to medium body and smoothly sweet with medium carbonation.
Overall this beer is balanced, smooth and exceptional! I would recommend this as a crossover beer for someone addicted to crappy macro beer!
