Dark in the glass. Brownish ruby when help up to the light. Clear, not cloudy. Not much lacing.
Roasty, and chocolate notes on the nose. Subtle, yet present.
Bitter chocolate on the mouth up front. Roasty malts with a hint of coffee follow. Smooth as silk.
Thicker mouthfeel. Good carbonation to compliment the roasty flavors.
Really a terrific beer. Sierra Nevada is the master of so many styles, and their porter really is no exception. There are bigger more exciting porters out there, but for a non-barrel aged/imperial/chutney porter, this one is a complete winner. Essentially the older brother of Tumbler.
