Had this on tap at CW's Tap Room in my hometown.
Sierra Nevada Porter is a chalky brown, slightly transparent beer with a small head and minimal lacing. Smells mostly of roasted grains and malt -- nothing too impressive.
Taste? Creamy, heavy roasted malt flavor, high carbonation, bittersweet beer. Mild coffee. Some hops are present. A good, basic porter. Leaves with a slighty dry aftertaste.
Not much to say on this one. It's certainly enjoyable, although uncomplex. Great for an intro to the porter style, if you like this, you'll probably like most porter.

Appearance: Pours a very dark amber, almost like a soda. A white, two-finger head. Leaves a moderate amount of lacing in the glass.
Smell: A lot of rich malt, a hint of coffee. Dark fruit?
Taste: Like the smell, there is a lot of malt up front. I pick up a little bit of chocolate, but I'm mostly getting this lovely roasted malt flavor.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a slight amount of carbonation. Goes down very smooth.
Overall: I really enjoyed this beer. It's a very drinkable porter and a +1 for Sierra Nevada! This is definitely a beer I could enjoy for years to come.
