Presentation: 12oz bottle (production code of 745Z0859???) in a fluted Pilsner glass
Poured clean, crisp, energetic, with a nice sparkle. Nose is immediately noticeable, dry, cider sweet malts, grassy, freshly husked corn, sharp estery florals...a nice, clean nose. With a little air some crackers & bread crust emerge. With a little agitation in the pour 2 finger's worth of tight, thick, softly sculpted & creamy pearl white foam with nice curtainesque lacing that hung like tree rings. The body is classic Pilsner - crystal clear, sunshine gold, with a steady parade of bubbles rising slowly thru it.
Clean, crisply dry with a back of the mouth muted crunch, light in mouthfeel & with the carbonation, very even & balanced. Bittersweet, grassy hops add a nice counterweight to the semi-sweet malts, which have a subtle honey aspect to them. As it warms the hops grow more prevalent & thus making it more bitter than initially.
It gets sharper, like a semi-sweet, dry champagne, softly scrubbing the tongue, leaving a mineral, somewhat rocky taste behind as it finishes clean, bittersweet, softly chewy with some grassy hops & echoes of stale bread. Incredibly easily to drink, it went down easy & smooth, yet more bitter than others of the style I've had.
A nice, easy to drink Pilsener that, while very easy to consume, wasn't incredibly refreshing like other summer style beers I've had. That said, with its slightly bitter aspects it would be fantasic with food. Dry white cheddar, whitefish, a simple salad, lobster, simply prepared shellfish, chicken, even zesty (not spicy) fare, etc. Definitely worth checking out, especially with food.
