Poured out of a bottle with no visible “best by” date.
A –Pristinely clear liquid gold with a big, white, billowy head. Some lazy streams of carbonation are visible. The head quickly dies down to a respectable quarter inch.
S – Strong sweet and grainy malt presence, and a light floral, spicy hop profile. Reminiscent of something like PBR, but so much cleaner, hoppier, and simply better.
T – Really subtle, clean and yet still satisfying maltiness followed by some beautifully spicy hops. The hops are assertive, and play their part in balancing out this beer perfectly.
M – Immediately, I got the slight tingle and pleasant tingle of alcohol and alpha acids on my tongue which gave way to an incredibly smooth and almost creamy body. Mid to full body for the style, or relative to other pilsners I’ve had. But still a rather crisp, drinkable beer.
O – This summer seasonal goes down easy. My number one beer so far in my quest for the Ultimate Summer Beer of 2013. This is what all those American adjunct lagers masquerading as pilsners wish they could one day grow up to be. I know this beer is listed as a Czech pilsner, but, in my mind, it is a classic American summer in a bottle.
