I'd been looking for this the last few trips, finally got a sixer. Poured cold at 47 F into a clean imperial pint glass and was immediately met with a bounding bright white three fingered mountain that slowly changed density forming canyons as well as a ring of lace all the way down my glass. Great retention and a very pretty fluffy head. Color is quite easy on the eye as well; dark metals...copper and bronze with accents of gold when lit from behind, very pretty.
Malt is mixed into the nose quite well between citrus and floral hop notes. While none of the elements of the smell of this beer are immediately groundshaking This smells like a it could be a nicely balanced beer.
Oh, and it is nicely balanced! Not sure about this falling totally in line with an IPA (not to say that the style can't be balanced). Orange and an ever so slight sourness come off first followed by a nice firm bready malt middle. Finish is clean and slightly dry with lingering soft hops way in the back and malts at the front.
The mouthfeel of this brew is silky smooth and has a viscosity to it that was very unexpected. Coupled with a pretty decent abv and near perfect carbonation, this beer is also quite drinkable.
