2011 edition with NZ hops.
American IPA they call it ? I think this straddles a couple of styles, namely the now-ubiquitous late/fresh-hopped ale, and English ale.
a) Bright orange/amber, 1" rocky head that slowly sinks to a heavy foam and lace. Light bubbling.
s) Resinous & fresh; caramel & breadcrusts, pine needles and some citrus.
t) Beautifully rich & balanced. Certainly a strong emphasis on the late hops, but the bitterness is significant, indicating a broad hop schedule. There is a well-structured malt support, and a spirity fruitiness reminiscent of brandy. Certainly English in flavour.
m) Quite weighty; feels like it's good for you. A creamy texture belies the bitter whack that ensues.
o) Delicious, rewarding, interesting, and very more-ish. Fairly strong in flavour, so wouldn't have too many. But certainly a beer for slow contemplation.
