poured from a 24 oz into a standard pint glass -
a nice amber color shows up, and a 2 finger head quickly rises to the top of the glass. it reduces, but 1/2 a finger of head remains for some time. lacing clings to the sides of the glass. suprisingly clear.
i was kind of surprised by the smell. being the bottle is a bit old, i'm guessing the grassy notes have died down as i really didn't find that much of them. there is a the citrus from the hops and a slight floral note, but not the big punch i was expecting. i can easily catch the caramel / toffee of the malts which is nice, but i was thinking it would be more hop forward in the nose. hopefully the next time i can buy it (which was by luck itself) it'll be fresher.
the taste is quite nice on this one. the aforementioned hop character is there with the citrus playing along with ample bittering. and some sweetness from the caramel malts is also around. but more hops. i'm guessing again the hops are not in full effect...
the mouthfeel is good on this. slightly creamy, with the carbonation just prickling the tongue on the edges.
another beer that's easy going down. not hard to imagine have a more than one pint of it!
