Poured from 12 oz. bottle into Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-weisse glass.
A--Golden hazy body with an aggressive white tightly creamy 3 finger head. Dissipates in lovely chunky sheets down the side of the glass. Picture perfect.
S--Right out of the gate this is absolutely lovely: bananas over top of apricot and peach. So, so fresh and summery. Somehow /smells/ spritzy. Can't wait to taste. Yeast is subdued but has a pizza dough proof aspect lurking behind all those fresh fruits. More hops than is usual for the style, but not hoppy by any means.
T--Oh my sweet heaven. This is smooth, tangy, bubbly, and wonderful. Much more on the mellow side, with subdued clove phenols and tapered off wheaty tang. The wheat is present, but it doesn't have that pale lemony bite of Ayinger. But neither is it as hefty as Schneder-Weisse, which pours up nearly amber. This is closer to Weihenstephaner, which is high praise indeed. The freshness of this domestic hefe really helps showcase the grainbill--there's some husky wheat and even barley undertones in the middle of the flavor profile, like a fresh baguette or loaf of sourdough--amid the yeasty swirl of gummy dough and bubblegum and banana/peach. This is the smoothie of beers. Tasterrific.
M&D--Mouthfeel is just a tad zippy, but I'm just digging for something critical to say. It ain't easy. Drinkability is off the hook, as I'd pick this up anywhere anybody put it down. Super refreshing--perfect for spring and summer, but I'd take it in fall, winter, morning, noon, while sleeping...
You get the idea. And at less than 10 a six, um...heaven? You know everything you want and expect from Corona given their marketing campaign? Well, here it is, except in bottle liquid reality. This tastes like a relaxing beach--you don't have to squinch your eyes shut and pop another lime in the bottle to imagine something refreshing past the cooked cabbage that is Corona.
