Pours a nice golden, very very filtered, clear color. Good head and sticky lacing as it should be. Did I mention how filtered clear this beer is?
Smells of vanilla milkshake and slight frutiness. Medium mouthfeel, slightly chewy but true to style.
Lots of banana flavor with bubble gum, couldnt pick up much of the clove, however. Fairly sweet beer but still very tasty.

12 oz.

Pours hazy lemony honey gold with an inch white head that dissipates quickly.

Smells of fresh grassy malts, lemon citrus and honey.

Tastes of clover honey, banana esters and wheat malt.

Medium body with soft carbonation.

Really good, thirst quenching hefe, highly sessionable but not light on flavor, I could drink this all summer.

A: Pale yellow, very cloudy, with a fluffy white head that slowly dissipates to just a small skim of bubbles with no lacing.

S: Light, crisp wheaty aroma with some banana and mild spices. Very nice, and about as strong as would be expected for a hefeweizen.

T/M: Nicely layered flavors of wheat, banana, a touch of peppery spice. A little bitterness in the aftertaste. Very crisp and clean and refreshing, with a good amount of flavor for this kind of beer.

O: A great American take on the hefeweizen style, very true to its origins. SN does it about as well as the Germans. Really tasty and drinkable.

Top notch Wheat beer.

I'm not a big fan of banana flavor, unless I'm just eating a banana.
But you get a hint of banana in this beer and it REALLY works.
Strong but not overpowering flavors set this one apart from other wheat beers.

Beautiful frothy head.

A 6pack from Gary's in Portsmouth, NH. The beer was a hazy yellow color with a thick, white, meringue-like head. Little bit of lacing. The aroma was primarily banana, also some sweetness and spice. I tasted banana, clove, and a little bit of lemon. I had Kellerweis not too long after drinking Rogue's Mom Hefe, and felt it to be superior. Not usually a hefe drinker, but this was a pretty good beer.

Finally, found a sixer of this in Asheville, at the granola emporium(Greenlife Grocery on Merrimon Ave.) Knoxville is such a crappy beer city that this is nowhere to be found there.
Poured into a large weissebier glass, we have a hazy straw yellow body with an immense vanilla head. Abundant clumps of sudsy foam adorn the glass.

Aroma has clove, white pepper, twangy wheat, ripe bananas, and a hint of lemon.

Medium to light medium body with a coating medium carbonation.

Taste is excellent for style. Wheat malt twang, clove, ripe banana, orange pulp, and a hint of lemon. Very nicely constructed.

Quite good! The new benchmark in American hefeweizens, and solid enough to rival the better teutonic versions.

Kellerweis Hefeweizen bears more than a passing resemblance in aroma to a Belgian ale: strong notes of banana and clove, mixed with only slightly less potent apples, pears, apricots, and coriander, all atop a biscuit-like layer of toasted grains.

On the tongue, the brew remains close to a Belgian, the banana and clove translating well, with the background apples and pears still quite prominent. The toasted grains are more present here, with good layers of wheat and cereal rushing across the tongue. A slight background sourness recalls Flemish ales, and helps counter the sugars. The aftertaste is more banana and clove, and fades relatively slowly. Mouthfeel is medium, and carbonation is medium-high.

Overall, this is a good beer, though as is obvious, I think it bears more in common taste-wise with a Belgian than with a Hefeweizen, so the name might be misleading to some. Still, the flavors in here are excellent, and the beer is worth a try.

Nice golden colour. Minimal head and very little retention for some reason.

Banana, clove, honey sweetness and other light fruit esters are all there.

Similar to the nose. Typical hefe with good amounts of banana, bready malt, a little clove, bubblegum. Yummy.

Carbonation is somehow different to that of a german hefe. Still very fizzy but quite different.

Like a good hefeweizen, it is insanely drinkable. On a hot day I could slay these like it was nobodies business.

12oz bottle poured into pint glass. Pours a very deep murky haze yellow orange with a huge 4 finger pillowy head that takes a bit to receed. This is a good looking hefe!

Smells of wheat, spice, yeast, banana, a little bit of citrus & coriander (a touch). Reminiscent of Weihenstephaner's Hefeweissbier - very nice.

Yup, this is a delicious brew. There is a lot of fruity thick yeast there with a full wheat mouthfeel. Not as spicy as the nose would suggest. Starts off full and yeast fruitiness & ending with a spice banana presence.

Picked a single up for $1.30. That price cannot be beat for a delicious 12oz Hefeweizen! I will be getting into this one again.

I found this single 12oz brown bottle at the Binny's in Plainfield, IL for $1.49. No freshness date anywhere to be found.

The beer poured a cloudy golden color, typical of a hefe-weizen. It made a 2 finger fluffy white head that lasted about a minute, but it only left a minimal amount of lacing.

There wasn't a very strong smell to this - just a definite wheat presence with some fruitiness and spiciness in the background. The spiciness could have been clove, as that is what you normally get in a hefe-weizen, but the fruit was not the typical banana smell, it was something else.

The taste was delicious. Wheat maltiness and fruit flavors up front, with a mild clove spiciness to keep it balanced. Not too sweet, but definately not bland either. There was a nice tangy tartness mixed in with the wheat, other malts, fruits, and spices to give this a nice comlex chatacter.

The body was heavier than most hefe-weizens I have tried, so yoU wouldn't call it light or watery, but it wasn't thick either. I would say it has a meduim body, but with high enough carbonation in it to keep it refreshing.

At 4.8% abv, the alcohol doesn't even come into play. This is a nice, tasty, refreshing brew that has fantastic drinkability.

Very, very cloudy light golden in color, head starts big and sticks around.

Smells of big weizen/wheat aromas, citrus and banana.

Taste is refreshing, flavorful and smooth. Notes of banana, citrus, clove and grainy wheat--none overpowering the other. In this summer heat right now, this is delicious.

Mouthfeel is light-bodied, with modest carbonation.

Never been one of my favorites styles, but this is a great example of it.

Sierra Nevada Kellerweis has a very thick, fluffy, white head and a hazy, yellow appearance with some bubbles streaming up and a nice amount of lacing left behind in splotches. The aroma is of white bread and slight banana, and the taste is likewise of white bread and banana, with coriander and a tad of hop bitterness present. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Sierra Nevada Kellerweis finishes wet and very drinkable. Little aftertaste is associated with this. Overall, the beer is quite enjoyable and I rate highly. Try it!

A: Hazy blonde, with a nice and semi-creamy white head that sites a strong two-fingers over a 10 ounce pour.

S: Wheat graininess, a scent like fruit peel, with soft banana scents upon a swirl - I don't really pick them up a great deal before a swirl. Clove aromas are nice, with a mellow 'field grass' scent.

T: The bottles makes a pretty accurate description of 'ripe banana and spicy clove.' There's not a whole lot more to add onto that, really. Easy going on the palate, but robust enough to suggest more. Good stuff.

M + D: A good bit of body to it, almost a little slippery - molten butter slick in some ways, though that's a very unappealing way to describe it and that's not actually the case. I sometimes prefer wheat styles to be a little crisper, but it's not always something that comes with the style... still, it's a nice, low alcohol, inviting summer brew that I will be looking forward to as gets even hotter.

Left in my fridge by a fellow BA, so I guess I'll have to drink it.

a - pours a bright golden color, super cloudy, one-finger white head with little retention or lacing

s - great traditional hefe aroma, big notes of banana and clove dominate with a lighter lemon aroma, not very complex, but spot on for the style

t - much like the aroma, the taste is pure banana and clove, the spiciness isn't overwhelming at all though, hints of lemon and orange, alcohol is very muted, very refreshing

m - light-to-medium bodied, on the higher side for carbonation, very active in the mouth, well-balanced finish, no alcohol warming

d - extremely drinkable, many hefes wear on my palate with the spice, but this hits the right balance, alcohol is virtually non-existant

Aroma - Bananas, citrus, spice. Actual a good amount of spice.

Appearance - Cloudy yellow with a tint of orange. Big white head from the pour was slow to dissipate thanks to a lot of carbonation.

Taste - First banana then spice carriers on for some time. Most of the flavors of this beer are upfront without much on the backend. Just no real aftertaste.

Notes - I like the amount of carbonation that really complimented this beer.

L: Pours a golden yellow with a medium sized and light bodied fluffy white head that laces the glass nicely on the way down.
S: Smells of sweet wheat malts, some toasted malts, and a nice lemony-citrus aroma followed by a slight banana-clove aroma at the end of the nose.
T: Like the aroma, this one has a nicely balanced sweet wheat and toasted malt base underneath a nice citrusy flavor with only a hint of banana and clove at the end. I liked the taste a lot, this one was a nice surprise.
M: Very crisp, refreshing, prefect amount of carbonation.
D: Very drinkable beer, I would recommend this one.

This beer is better than bad it's good, not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good. The Velvet Fog himself.

Thick white head, big bright electric cloudy body. Banana yellow with lemony yellow highlights. The body of this beer is like a yellow neon sign in the fog.

Yeast, spice, pepper, and sweet banana notes jump out of the glass into your nose lighting up the dark recesses of your nasal cavity.

Great yeasty, clove, banana taste. It's electric, like Dick Hyman, guess you'd expect to catch the crew rhymin.

Never lets you down with it's stereo sound, this beer is creamy smooth, velvety. Like Mel Torme crooning in his purple crushed velvet jacket, this beer is a classic.

Pours a pale cloudy yellow color with a big fluffy white head that falls slow. Some light sticky lace down my glass but not as much as i was expecting.

Aroma is nice wheat malts ripe bananas some earthy yeasts, clove. Touches of light fresh cut grass and light spice.

Taste is nice CO2 and spice upfront then ripe banana almost over ripe like banana pudding rushes in. Finish is lingering banana sweetness, cloves, and light grassy hops mingled with earthy yeasts.

Mouthfeel is medium nice and smooth.

Drinkability is good really enjoying this one.

It's 90 degrees here, and I need something fitting.

A: Hazy yellowish orange with a 4-finger thick snow white head, this is a pretty good looking beer. Plenty of carbonation, this looks like the real deal

S: Smells like it too. A big aroma of banana with some clove and sweetness. Bready and doughy with a sweetness reminiscent of ripe oranges, this is excellent

T: Opening up with a combination of citrus and wheat, this is very refreshing. The banana character follows through and is surprisingly muted given how prominent it is on the nose. The mid palate is a little disappointing in that it's slightly watery, but a dry, citrus finish is excellent

M: A little lighter than I'd like (maybe I've gotten used to some decoction-mashed hefeweizens?), this beer is also not as crisp as I'd expect it to be. Great finish, though.

D: The low ABV and excellent flavors make for one very drinkable beer, ridiculously so.

A - Poured out a cloudy, golden-yellow color with a one-finger, bubbly head of white foam. It left soapy residue on the glass.

S - It smelled of lemon, clove, banana, wheat and some spicy yeast.

T - Great balance of banana, clove, wheat and yeast provides a nice sweet flavor with just enough spice.

M - It was crisp and very sharp with a somewhat dry finish. A light bodied ale.

D - This is a really good American version of a hefeweizen. There are some German ones that are better, but this is pretty darn good.

Pours a deep hazy lemon/orange color. GIANT white pillow head, leaves nice lacing down the side. Aroma of cloves a light spices, also a little dry fruit. Taste is great! One of the best American Heffes I have had. Nice deep spice flavors, with cloves and bananas. This is what a Heffe is suppose to be unlike most American attempts. It taste like a distant cousin to a Weihenstephaner. Not quite as complex, but a great effort. Nice drinkibility, not too watery or bland as a lot of American offerings are. I would say this is the best American version of this style. Thanks SN!

Aroma is full of both banana and clove in the nose. Very pleasant and inviting aroma.

Taste is full of clove and light banana with a touch of hop bitterness. Not too sweet nor bitter.

M: Just about the smoothest hefe I have had. This is one of those beers that forces you to sip, and go back for a big old quaff, before the bottom of the glass hits the table.

D: Kinda jumped the gun, and summed it up above. The 4.8ABV almost acts like a higher ABV. Just alot of flavor, and alot of refreshment. Great American version of a traditional German Hefe..

Great aromas here. Tons of sweet wheat, yeast, and bananas.

Great strong clean flavors. Sweet wheat, with yeastiness and some light bread elements, and a light tart finish. Clean, refreshing, and delicious.

Lighter bodied and decently carbonated. This one is a real easy drinker. Great domestic hefeweizen. Absolutely worth trying and revisiting.
