Pours a dark golden wheat color, head was white and bubbly, decent thickness. Aroma was very apparent. A mix of sweet wheat, cloves, and bananas. Taste was similar to the aroma. A good amount of sweetness, but different kinds (banana and wheat). Clove taste was there going down. Good carbonation and body. Overall excellent taste and drinkability.

This is a great hefeweizen. Very balanced flavors between the cloves, banana notes, and citrus. IF you are looking for big malt or hops flavors, then look elsewhere, this is spices and finsihing flavors through and through. I'm very glad I gave this beer a try.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a glass.

A - Opaque, hazy golden with an off-white/tan head about two fingers. No lacing.

S - Smells mostly of clove, lemon, and honey. The bottle suggests banana aromas, but I did not find any. A bready-wheat smell.

T - A slightly bitter wheat with an additional bitter note from the clove. With each sip, the clove becomes more prevalent, and the sweetness of the banana finally shows through with an aftertaste that builds.

M - Mildly carbonated, good body. A silky brew that ends up finishing dry.

O - I would encourage anyone to try this beer, it's a top notch Hefe.

Being a Hefeweizen fan, I bought a 6-pack the first time it appeared at my local liquor store.

Appearance: Rich and cloudy looking, with the orange/yellow color distinct to unfiltered Hefs. Pours with a slight, frothy head.

Smell: Subtle, slightly bready with some distinct yeast. Nothing overpowering.

Taste: Like the smell, is definitively bready. Banana is very up front, and there is a slight hops bitterness which gently balances out the banana and cloves sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Crisp yet vaguely creamy. Slight tang.

Overall: This is an excellent American Hefeweizen. Flavorful without being excessively sweet. The notes of banana are very pleasant. Incredibly drinkable.

Absolutely loved this and I'm not big on hefeweizens. But I think it's mostly because craft brew in the U.S. don't do it well.

L; Hazy gold yellow masterpiece.

S; Floral notes and banana

T: Banana with some citrus notes in there. Light orange but mostly banana. Delicious.

F: Nice and creamy.

O: I'm so glad the sampler I picked up was relatively fresh. A little more than a month old. I had heard this was a good one and it's completely changed my mind about hefeweizens. Now if only I can find the german ones fresh. If there's a good date on this, I won't hesitate to pick this up. Delicious.

12 oz. bottle, poured into a .5 L weizen glass.

Beautiful hefeweizen yeast cloud suspended in a mustard yellow crayola body. Tall, thick, whipped, cumulonimbus slightly beige white head. Looks great! Heady nose of strong yeast, banana, clove, and a hint of bubblegum. The yeast twang has a slightly funky edge to it which I like. Sweetish wheat bread underneath.

Light wheat bread notes lead off, with a crisp fruit edge. Big yeast flavors follow. Mushy bananas and Cream of Wheat mix with the slightly funky, very bready yeast. Some clove spice in the finish along with a dash of citrus crispness. Full-bodied, protein-rich, wheat-y feel. Refreshing and delicious. A great American made Hefe!

Poured a hazy golden sunny color with lively carbonation, producing a pillowy thick head. Not much lacing down the glass. Smelled slightly of bananas and clove, yeasty. Taste was similar, but when coupled with the cold liquid is very pleasurable. The fruity part of the flavor is just there enough to be delicious, but does not overwhelm; it just refreshes. A great beer (and style) for most foods.
Mouhtfeel was very good, the carbonation cleans the pallette; and drinkability is very high, a leading session beer for sure. Nice to see such a tasty Hefe that is domestic, and not from abroad.

A: A cloudy yellow/orange with a thin line of bubbles for a head.

S: There is a nice bready wheat and yeast smell coming off of the beer. It also has a citrus quality to it.

T: The flavor is consistent with the aroma. A very nice sweet, but not too sweet, wheat/yeast flavor with a bit of clove spiciness, bubblegum like flavors and citrus tang to it. I really like the bready quality to this beer. There is more depth and flavors in this beer than most hefes, I like the flavors.

M: There is a nice spiciness to this beer due to the carbonation and clove-like flavors. It could use a little bit more though. Althought, the feel is nice and smooth.

D: Very drinkable. Refreshing and delicious.

12 oz. bottle from a six pack purchased at a bottle shop, 07/2011. Well stored since purchase. The date code would seem to indicate that this was bottled late May, 2011.

Poured into a Franziskaner Weissbier Glass.

Pours a nice one finger head which hangs for a bit then subsides into a 1/8” cap. Lots of carbonation though, very lively, an easy one swirl revival for the head.

Beautiful golden wheat color, cloudy with all the yeast sediment. Streams of carbonation constantly come from the bottom of the glass.

The smell starts with a huge blast of distinct yeast, hard crusty bread, golden malt, and yes lemon peel. Just a faint hint of hops, then more yeasty bread. Extremely enjoyable, complex, and lasts throughout the pour.

The first sip hits you with a very crisp, citrusy, acidity that adds great balance to this beer, bread and yeast flavors, orange with a hint of lemon, great carbonation with fine bubbles that reminds one of good champagne. Delicious and incredibly refreshing, you could just drink pints forever!

Fairly long finish, with some nice hops showing, golden malt, and again delicious yeast/bread.

An amazingly delicious American Wheat Beer. Tastes like what I remember having in Germany. Great mouth feel from the carbonation which lasts throughout the pour. The delicious combination of citrus/malt/yeast invites you to drink until it’s gone……I think I will have another!

Appearance: The Sierra Nevada Kellerweis pours a cloudy yellow with a thin, quickly evaporating head. Minimal to no lacing.

Smell: Orange, lemon, banana, clove and wheat.

Taste: Spicy lemon, orange, clove and wheat. The lemon really comes through in the taste - very refreshing.

Mouthfeel is smooth and prickly with medium carbonation.

Overall: A very refreshing, flavorful beer. A perfect low ABV summertime beer, and one I will definitely purchase again.

Appearance - Big frothy head formed at pour. Carbonation is thin but retains a nice ring around the glass as the head retracts. Cloudy (as expected from the style) with a lively presence. Inviting.

Smell - Wheaty aroma grabs your nose first, followed by a large amount of ripe bananas and a spice/clove nose. Nice and full aroma. Nothing subtle here. It's in your face.

Taste - Malty sweet, nice mild hop bite at the end. Just what you would expect from a Hefe. Clean crisp throughout with an excellent balance.

Mouthfeel - Livey carbonation makes it's appearance again to lead this offering around your tongue/mouth. Very enjoyable and very full-bodied. A nice finish leaves you ready for the next sample.

Drinkability - Very well done. Nicely balanced and an easy drinker. Would make an excellent summer offering (perhaps a bit less quenching that typical summer-fare, but still well worth a look-see). Yes, I would put this up there with a Weihenstephaner Hefe. Good job SN.

On tap at the brewery.

Tight white head and a hazy straw yellow appearance.

Great Bavarian style wheat beer. Intense aroma of ripe bananas and spicy clove. Predictably low bitterness. Very fresh malt flavors and a general grainy taste.

Very well done and very true to style. Its great to see this ale-heavy brewery tackle traditional German beers and take full advantage of their open fermenters.

Carbonation is a tad bit on the high side, but the body is medium-light and very drinkable and delicious.

Served from bottle into a nonic glass at the Winking Lizard.

A- Hazy golden color with one finger of soapy white head.

S- Strong banana and almost bubblegum like notes.

T- Strong banana and bubblegum notes throughout with a nice amount of spiciness to keep it from being too sweet. Also some bready and yeasty notes throughout as well.

M- Highly carbonated with a medium body

O- Highly drinkable beer with good balance and very refreshing.

I went looking for a good hefe, and around these parts that can be a chore. No Franziskaner or its ilk to be found, and I didn't feel like an hour drive to Fayetteville for some Bridge Brewworks product (damn it, distribute into Charleston, guys!). But I wanted a clove-banana delivery device and settled on this. Not a bad choice, I must say.

Pours a cloudy darkish-yellow, white head that could be fluffier considering the style. Some lacing, good carbonation. Yeast chunkies on the bottom.

Nice wheat malt base with clove-y phenols with peach and banana esters in background. Not overpowering clove but solid.

Banana esters and spicy cloves again on palate with and some minor green apple, but the good kind of apple and not the cidery acetealdehyde variety. The peach from the nose is missing but the apple makes up for it. Tasty. Could'a been more extreme on the flavors but good, solid, hefe character.

Solid mouthfeel but thinner than I'd prefer. Quite drinkable on this fine - that is to say hotter than hell - Fathers' Day.

Poured into a Sam Adams glass. Cloudy straw yellow with a nice thick white head. About an inch or so. Rapidly dissipates to a ring around the glass. Great banana scent, fruit, citrus and a light clove. First taste is citrus and banana with clove. Banana remains prominent throughout. Mouthfeel is medium to light. Generally one of my favorite hefewizens. Highly recommended.

When poured, the color was of a hazy lemon yellow, with very little foam, but some lace retention. The smell of cloves and citrus was very evident, with a hint of a yeasty nature. The taste of cloves, yeast, wheat and lemon citrus was pleasant, I could not pick up the banana flavor. Nicely balanced fruit and spices to make this Kellerweis Hefeweizen very exceptable on the palate.

A-Pours a hazy unfiltered yellow gold with lots of fluffy white head and lacing.

S-Spicy banana and clove. Very robust and appealing.

T-Following the nose, lots of banana and spice notes, a bit sweet and also a bit tangy.

M-Medium bodied with a richer than expected texture. Very nice.

D-A great summer beer and a great low ABV beer. Most of our case is already gone after just two weeks

Pours a hazy golden with a big, lively fluffy white head. The aroma is rich, spicy, and phenolic, with pronounced fruit, apricot, pear and apple. The flavor is rich and wheaty, with huge fruit esters, particularly spicy apricot. It is rich and round and powerful, far more robust and flavorful than the ABV would suggest. The mouthfeel is thick and carbonated.

This is a delicious beer.

A:Nice hazy looking straw color. Really nice haze actually. A finger and a half of white head with nice lacing as well.

S: Tons of banana. The clove is in there as well but damn does the banana shine through. Little bit of citrus in the back with the wheat pulling it's weight as well.

T: Follows right along with the nose. Really nice and complex heff of which there are not that many. The yeast is very powerful and flavorful.

M: Perfect. A touch thick but the carbonation pushes it right down.

D: I have had live oak in growler form and on tap and dare I say this is a poor man's Live Oak. That being said I in no way want to sell this beer short. This is a world class heff. Recommended.

Served in a pint glass. Pours a cloudy golden almost orange color with a thick and dense off-white head that reduces to a decent film with thick lacing.

Aroma is thick with bananas and wheat yeast and cloves. Flavor is more of the same with the banana and clove asserting themselves. Carbonation is high and the beer as a somewhat creamy character. There is a slight dryness and a touch of tartness that leave you wanting more. A great beer.

At first poured a very yellow, but when it settled and became murky, it was a nice golden. Hints of ripe fruit and citrus.

This is a really good hefe. Slightly malty and fruity. It tastes mostly of banana and orange, and is absolutely velvet smooth. No hint of alcohol. I could easily put down a 6 pack of these without thinking twice.

12oz. bottle poured into a pint glass at Pizzeria Paradiso in Dupont Circle.

My first beer of the night, and boy was it a great start.

A: Cloudy, hazy golden yellow with amber hints within the clouds.

S: Traditional Hefe aromas. Perhaps a bit dialed back compared with a Weihenstephaner. Nevertheless, a very inviting aroma for discriminate Hefeweizen drinkers.

T&M: Wonderful, fruity flavors come forth. Traditional banana and clove. Well balanced. Tastes "genuine" and not fake or cloying. Very pleasing. The mouthfeel is smooth, with a nice crisp finish that beckons another sip.

I was very impressed by this beer. I went in with high expectations and it didn't disappoint.

I've been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Kellerweis and it finally arrived in North Texas. Poured into weizen glass.

A: Huge pillowy head that slowly dissipated but still left a good finger. Nice lacing and murky coloring. Exactly as I would want a hef to look.

S: Heavy wheat tones with some spiciness as well. More on the bready side of the hef equation. I don't really get the banana that most of the German hefs have. Nice but probably the least of the qualities..

T & M: The bready wheaty tones come out in the taste as well. No cloying sweetness, very crisp mouthfeel. Nicely bodied.

D: This is a very drinkable hef that I will be drinking quite often for the remainder of the summer.

Pours a beautiful hazy gold color topped with a thick lacy white head which recedes quickly. The brew gives off a biscuity malt aroma with soft hints of banana esters. The body is light and highly carbonated and is full of banana flavor with a background of biscuit malt and clove flavors. The finish carries the banana through the end and dances around the palate with the fizz from the carbonation. The finish is gentle but fades relatively quickly.
