I poured this 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams glass.
A: bright honey gold, one finger head that turns into adequate lacing.
S: esters, sweet malt, a signature SN mild funk (must be the yeast).
T: plenty of tart acidity up front, quickly giving way to semi-sweet fruit bread (raisin bread?) and mild ester yeast, the finish is crisp, off-dry, and features grassy/steely hops.
M: medium to light weight, ample but not abundant carbonation, refreshes the palette.
D: this is a bock that emphasizes crispness and tartness over malty sweetness. It lacks the truly funky yeast that often permeates a bock. This is a summertime bock.
