Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a Willis Tower pint glass.
The color is a dark black with dark maroon hight lights a two finger of brownish foamy head ans some thick lacing left on the glass.
The smell is of dark malts like a porter. There is some roasty malt aroma with some berry aroma that is pretty interesting put together.
The taste is pretty floral in taste, there is a sweetness that is pushing around a roasty flavor like a prize fighter. The sweetness of the berries seem to carve my lounge up and there is a mix of sweet and roasty flavors but there is a chocolate flavor there and some piny hops in the big punch of flavor.
The feel of this beer is medium but is giving off potential to go further and be more complex and heavy. There is a nice drinkable feel here once the first sip or shocks you. A beer that is quite interesting and original.

On tap at Toronado in San Diego, CA.
Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, citrus zest, and slight juniper berry. Taste is much the same with a cocoa flavor on the finish. There is a medium amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is interesting but isn't as juniper forward as I was expecting.
