Grabbed this off the shelf as soon as I saw it, nice and fresh. Pours a very clear amber bronze sort of color with a 1" eggshell colored head retention isn't bad, especially considering the ABV. As it recedes it leaves a little lacing in my glass. Smell is absurdly aggressive, I get lots of citrus, grapefruit and a bit of orange, a bit of pine. There is a slight sweetness to the smell as well. I was surprised that this does in fact have just a touch of noticed bitterness. It is rare that I detect that anymore. The sip starts out with a slight hick heavy sweetness. In the middle of the taste I get that noticeable bitterness with some of those sweet orange/grapefruit notes. the beer finishes with a residual pine bitterness and a slight vanilla taste. Mouthfeel is thick and syrupy smooth, a slight carbonation gives it some life. This thing is really a hop-bomb. The flavors blend together quite well, giving this mildly complex beer a taste that subtly morphs as it progresses across the palate.
