Notes/Commercial Description:
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put —Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped, AND torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Resinous "new-school" and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar, and tropical fruit—all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Picked this up from Chip's Wine and Beer in the Outer Banks, NC.

A: Light, honey/amber color, very clear. Thick head with good retention. Nice looking beer.

S: Piney hops at first with a lot of citrus after the first couple passes - not as strong as I was expecting but really nice.

T: Citrus fruit, sweet bread, booze, nice and bitter on the back with a very dry finish that lasts a while.

M: Chewy and luscious without being cloying.

O: An amazingly well-balanced Imperial IPA. I shouldn't have another one but I want one. This beer is an event.

I'm always pumped when I can find a four pack of this - thankfully it is still abundantly available in my area. Though not as hyped as Pliny or Hopslam, you'd still be remiss not to at least give this one a whirl. If you're a hophead who can't get enough of your Imperial IPA fix then you owe it to yourself to seek this one out.
