Very unique beer, and I agree with the Bros on this - it is a must try. In short, a great looking beer with a great malt taste and excellent finish.
Appearance: A beautiful beer! The color of cream soda with a very deep foamy head that lasted several minutes and then graced the glass with ample lace long after the drink was finished - as any great malt beer should.
Smell: Smells like a toasted wheat bread crusts. I am guessing what I am picking up is the smoky roasted malt aromas. But there is a nutty element as well.
Taste: Complex and medium-bodied. The balance definitely tips to heavy sweet malted overtones, however, there is a sharp bitter hops contrast which complements the sweet, roasted, and smokey flavors. The bitter hops was quite unexpected for a roasted malt beer, but I enjoyed the contrast.
Mouthfeel: The weakest element of this beer. I picked up a strong metallic or tinny flavor which lingered long after a swallow. It kept me chasing more sips to wash out the finish. Which I guess is not a bad thing given the beer's overall flavor. It also was a bit heavy on the carbonation for a brown ale.
Overall: SN Tumbler is extremely well crafted. The superior look, smell, and taste overcomes any weaknesses in finish and mouthfeel.
I will definitely be looking to get this again when the amber leaves are falling off the trees and we are enjoying a little evening campfire. I encourage you to do the same!

A - Impressive head over a dark brown, mostly opaque brew. Good lacing.
S - This might be the age, but not much more than some harsh malt notes with a bit of bread.
T - Surprisingly good. Some nice malt, roasted grains. Some bitterness on the close, but very easy to drink.
M - Lively and crisp, which shocked me, given the age.
O - This was a beer well beyond its standard drink by period, which actually speaks well of it, because it held up surprisingly well. When I saw it on the shelf, I knew I had to try it, because it was something I might never see again. I'm glad I did, because it was an impressive brew, even with the age on it. Hope it comes around again.
