I poured this 12 oz. beer into a nonic pint glass. I am reviewing the 2011 beer.
A: clear deep russet color, the dark tan head falls into a nice creamy cap with stucco-like lacing.
S: roasty/toasty aromas dominate, with a velvet lining of vanilla, light caramel, a whisper of dark chocolate, and a delicate but noticeable herbal/earthy hop aroma.
T: toffee, burnt sugar, some coffee, roasted nuts, caramel sweetness, vanilla/oak, the hop finish is dry and nicely balances the sweetness and harmoniously blends with the roasted character of the beer. Very well put together beer, which hardly surprises me coming from Sierra Nevada.
M: medium-bodied, satiny smooth texture, and moderate carbonation that is enhanced by the bitter hop presence.
O: yet another exceptional beer from our good friends at Sierra Nevada. Now I want a Celebration Ale...

Sampled tonight on 6/26/14. Found this bottle in the back of the cooler so it is a good year old I am guess BUT there isn't a expiration date anyone on the bottle and this brew is now RETIRED and no longer brewed. But opened it and it was fine. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a 14 ounce glass 'Texas style " boot.
Pours a clear dark brown in color with a good 3-finger off-white head! Good carbonation with some sediment left in the bottom of the bottle. The aroma is of roasted malts, hazel nut and brown sugar. Very nice! The taste is close to the aroma but not as strong BUT pretty good overall with all the flavors mentioned above coming through lots of the hazelnut 'nut' flavor in the mix. A slight dry smoke finish but still good.
