A: Poured form a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass. Deep, rich, mahogany-brown with an off-white, 2-finger head and a touch of lacing.
S: Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, some nuts, and a touch of marzipan.
T: Toasted malts and molasses up-front, with a smoky, smooth, crisp finish. Flavors of chocolate malts, toasted nuts, used coffee grounds, mature cherries, and raisins. There is a dryness to the swallow that fits well, as it reminds one of dead leaves. It adds a nice balance to the maltiness of traditional brown ales.
M: Simple, middle-of-the-road feel that neither adds, nor detracts from the quality of the beer. A touch heavier than your typical brown, but this is a good thing.
O: For a seasonal brown ale, this is quite tasty. I'm not a huge fan of many autumn offerings, and this is certainly above-par. That being said, when judged independent of its season, this beer is nothing too special.

Sampled tonight on 6/26/14. Found this bottle in the back of the cooler so it is a good year old I am guess BUT there isn't a expiration date anyone on the bottle and this brew is now RETIRED and no longer brewed. But opened it and it was fine. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a 14 ounce glass 'Texas style " boot.
Pours a clear dark brown in color with a good 3-finger off-white head! Good carbonation with some sediment left in the bottom of the bottle. The aroma is of roasted malts, hazel nut and brown sugar. Very nice! The taste is close to the aroma but not as strong BUT pretty good overall with all the flavors mentioned above coming through lots of the hazelnut 'nut' flavor in the mix. A slight dry smoke finish but still good.
