Bought a 6-pack for $9.99. Some code on the bottle reads: 026711753. Tried to decipher it on the Sierra Nevada website and got a headache from the confusion.
Poured a nice, rusty chestnut with red highlights and a nice, glass clinging head.
Smell is faint, but one of malt, cedar and nut. Little smoky. Distant aromas of ocean-soaked sailboat and the inside of the Pirates of the Caribbean. Very faint leather and 'saddle.'
A nice, easy drinkable brown. A pretty clean taste with no objectionable aftertaste. There's a touch of maple or some other sweetness. Maybe my mind is stuck on the label but it reminds me of October, pumpkins, falling leaves and Halloween.

Sampled tonight on 6/26/14. Found this bottle in the back of the cooler so it is a good year old I am guess BUT there isn't a expiration date anyone on the bottle and this brew is now RETIRED and no longer brewed. But opened it and it was fine. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a 14 ounce glass 'Texas style " boot.
Pours a clear dark brown in color with a good 3-finger off-white head! Good carbonation with some sediment left in the bottom of the bottle. The aroma is of roasted malts, hazel nut and brown sugar. Very nice! The taste is close to the aroma but not as strong BUT pretty good overall with all the flavors mentioned above coming through lots of the hazelnut 'nut' flavor in the mix. A slight dry smoke finish but still good.
