Poured from a bottle into a nonic pint.
Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a reddish tint, and has a nice foamy head.
Smell: Definitely a nutty, roasted malt character to the scent, but with a very prominent hoppy character as well.
Taste: This beer has a very warm, nutty backbone with hints of spices from the hops. Hints of crusty bread are also present, as well as some sweeter chocolatey flavors with the body of a lightly roasted coffee.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, pretty smooth, but had a bit more carbonation than I would have liked. This is the only part of the beer that's lacking for me.
Overall: As my friend said when he first had this beer "This tastes exactly how brown should taste." This is an excellent offering from a brewing company that tends to be hit or miss for me. I definitely will be picking this up in the falls to come.

Sampled tonight on 6/26/14. Found this bottle in the back of the cooler so it is a good year old I am guess BUT there isn't a expiration date anyone on the bottle and this brew is now RETIRED and no longer brewed. But opened it and it was fine. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a 14 ounce glass 'Texas style " boot.
Pours a clear dark brown in color with a good 3-finger off-white head! Good carbonation with some sediment left in the bottom of the bottle. The aroma is of roasted malts, hazel nut and brown sugar. Very nice! The taste is close to the aroma but not as strong BUT pretty good overall with all the flavors mentioned above coming through lots of the hazelnut 'nut' flavor in the mix. A slight dry smoke finish but still good.
