12fl oz bottle poured into my stange
Appearance is a mix of medium brown with bits of violet going on. It has a red glowing/ruby hue. Slightly tan two inch head that subsides on average with bits amount of lacing.
Aroma comes off with light chocolate, cocoa powder, tobacco, a little bit of vanilla, and a noticeable amount of slightly smoked malts. For a minute if I take a good big whiff a scent of bacon is also detectable.
Taste is a bit subdued and not as complex as the aroma. I got an upfront taste of light chocolate that actually taste more like cocoa powder. Following midway is a bit of roasted malts that have a slight smokiness flavor to them. Finishing the taste was just a bit of barley and a dry coffee bitterness that was really mild.
On the verge between light and medium bodied with average carbonation.
Not to fond of this beer actually overall but I give it credit for what its worth

Sampled tonight on 6/26/14. Found this bottle in the back of the cooler so it is a good year old I am guess BUT there isn't a expiration date anyone on the bottle and this brew is now RETIRED and no longer brewed. But opened it and it was fine. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a 14 ounce glass 'Texas style " boot.
Pours a clear dark brown in color with a good 3-finger off-white head! Good carbonation with some sediment left in the bottom of the bottle. The aroma is of roasted malts, hazel nut and brown sugar. Very nice! The taste is close to the aroma but not as strong BUT pretty good overall with all the flavors mentioned above coming through lots of the hazelnut 'nut' flavor in the mix. A slight dry smoke finish but still good.
