Notes/Commercial Description:
Tumbler is our take on the classic brown ale – full of roasted malt flavor but delicate on the palate and perfect for crisp fall days. Layered with notes of chocolate and toasted bread and a hint of smoke, Tumbler is the ultimate autumn beer, so grab a seat and watch as the leaves come tumbling down.

A - Very dark amber. Stiff light beige head created a solid wall of lacing on the side of the glass (well done indeed).

S - A little more "Bocky" than I expected. Mild hop. Definitely an American, not English, Brown.

T - Way different than I expected based on the smell. Malt and hop are in balance, though hops are more for drying it out rather than taste. Some toffee and chocolate in the background.

M - Wow... the dryness is really well done and not puckering at all. Mildly crisp. The linger did not get lost in the dryness, and is just about perfect. Carb is pretty creamy but not lacking.

O - Quality is there. Not just a brewery trying to have "some thing different for a seasonal". Go S.N. Kinda sorry I only got one so late in the season.

Side Note: Awesome with some sweet potato fries and horseradish mayo.

12 ounce bottle poured into a shaker pint. Very dark brown with just a hint of reddish hues. Small but resilient creamy beige head and full lacing.

Moderate toasted and caramel malts, roasted nuts, chocolate, coffee, and just a tiny bit of citrus in the background.

Flavor is full of malts, but not ridiculously sweet, and lacks the vinegar/acidity of a lot of browns out there. Somewhat fruity, caramel, light hop bitterness, and toast.

Medium-bodied and medium carbonation. Very smooth mouthfeel.

I'm not a huge brown fan, but this one was pretty good and I try to keep style in mind when rating. Overall this is a nice late-fall/early-winter beer when I'm not quite in the mood for a heavier stout/porter or anything too spiced.

A good showing by Sierra Nevada. It's hard to make a distinguished brown ale. This one may be. It has a toasted/biscuit character that seperates it from other brown ales. Just enough for you to notice, but not too much to block its drinkability. Im usually not a huge fan of the style, but I liked this.
