Poured a hazy dark copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a moderate caramel coupled with a balmy hop spice.

The taste combined a heavy rounded malt with a secondary, yet lingering raw hop spice.

The mouthfeel was toward the fuller side of the style with a residual spice.

Overall a tasty well rounded DIPA.

Bottle: Poured a deep beige color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of clean citrus and pine hoppy notes. Taste is also a good mix between some pine and citrus notes with a solid non-descript malt backbone. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. This beer was brewed very close to style with a good aroma and solid malt backbone. Not standing out from other DIPA but well enjoyable nonetheless.

12oz bottle to wine glass. Sampled 5/25/11, shortly after the beer was released.

A: Creamy, yellow-stained cap of 1 1/2 fingers, frothy, with great staying power. Relatively clear, only a small amount of haze can be seen in the medium-light orange colored body. Lacing is good.

S: Modest aromas of caramel and grain with resiny orange hop aromas coming out on top. Underlying grapefruit and maybe a hint of freshly chopped pine wood.

T: Additional tropical fruit in the form of pineapple. Malt flavor is bolder than the nose suggests adding a moderate amount of sweetness. Thankfully a firm bitter finish balances it out. The ABV, while modest in the DIPA realm (my bottle indicates 8.5%), is nowhere to be found.

M: Medium-full body with a thick minerally texture and an above average lively carbonation.

O: Incredibly drinkable. And gets better with each sip.
