Poured into a Stone IRS snifter
A - This beauty pours a deep reddish amber. A vigorous pour produced a tremendous white fluffy head. Moderate retention with very impressive lacing. There is no hint of haze in this beer... It is crystal clear and clean.
S - Big earthy resinous hops are the primary characteristic. A bit of grapefruit shines through. Also some roasted cereal malt flavors on the nose.
T - Plenty of hops up front... Not a hop bomb per se, but it is certainly the dominant characteristic. Lots of bitter pine and resin with some citrus in there as well. The really surprising part of this beer is the balance with the deeply roasted malts in the middle. Almost a bit of smoke and hickory bark mixed with cereal grain roast flavors. Lots of sharp bitter hop on the finish.
M - This beer has a solid moth feel. The carbonation helps to bring out the flavor without distracting. Extremely dry on the finish, lending to the sharp bitterness on the end.
O - The perfect example of what a wet hop IPA should be. It's earthy, fresh, hoppy, balanced, and delicious. It's a beer that drinks bigger than it's 6.7% ABV.

Cracked this open on a wonderful summer night a few days back! Golden, Hoppy, Fresh, perfectly balanced! Foamy, creamy head! Year 2011. Aging in my fridge. Loved drinking, but sad, I will not be able to find this beer again. It was perfect! If I find this beer, anywhere, it will go home with me! Even, my friend liked it and he is a stout man.
