Cloudy copper colored brew with a foamy cream colored head. Sheets of sticky fluffy lace cover the glass. Gorgeous.

Fresh bread and caramel waft immediately from the bottle as I pour. Spicy and grapefruit hops jump out as I bring the glass to my nose and a mild garlic note appears later.

Taste is exquisite. Strong juicy grapefruit hops. Vivid flavor of grapefruit pulp and bitter white pith. Spicy earthy hops. Fresh mint leaves. Fresh warm bread.

Mouth is creamy.

Drinkability is ideal.

Beautifully executed IPA.

Poured from tap into pint glass at Lazy Boy.
Pours a hazy golden with a thick white sticky head. Sticky sticky lacing...did I mention sticky?
Great hop aroma, with pine and a fruity sweet note.
Taste is really great. Again, hops dominate, but they taste sweet and crisp.
Very very good IPA...I am upset I have never had this before. This is truly a great IPA and worth a try anytime anywhere!

Appearance: A nice head on the initial pour, approximately one fingers worth. The residual head is amazing. A nice "crema", for lack of a better word, throughout the entire tasting. This poured a dark amber with a hint of red. Anywhere between a 16 and 18 SRM.

Scent: Immediately the first thing you get is a punch of hops. Both floral and citrus aromas from the hops; very inviting. There is a level of freshness coming from the hops that isn't quite present in all IPAs, in this case I believe it is coming from the use of wet hops. Though the hops are prominent no IPA is complete without a maltiness to balance it out. Underneath the hops are aromas of caramel and pale malt sweetness. Very well balanced.

Taste: Once again the hops are the star player. I dont get as much citrus coming through, but I still get the floral notes with a hint of pine. I think the malt is a background player on the flavor. It's not as prominent, but works wonderfully to push the hops to the forefront. A hint of bitterness on the finish from the hops, not an overpowering bitterness though. This is a smooth bitterness that crawls in at the very end to remind you that it's there.

Mouthfeel: I would say that this is a well-balanced, medium bodied beer. The carbonation is perfect and the body perfectly compliments the flavors being conveyed to your mouth.

Overall: I've been on a bit of a malt kick for the past 6 months. Drinking strong, malty Belgians mostly. I was craving something hoppy and this really hit the spot. Maybe it was my deprivation of hops, but this really hit the spot. The wet-hopping added a freshness to the beer that I haven't seen in too many IPAs. Very well-balanced, the malt and hops play very nicely with each other.

Bomber

Appearance – Slightly hazy copper colour with a very large size fizzy beige coloured head. There is a high level of carbonation and there is a good amount of lacing. The head hung around for around 5 minutes.

Smell - Malts, hops, caramel, light citrus

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, caramel, and lots of hops. There is also some grapefruit and a cherry sweetness along with some spices. It ends with a hoppy malty sweet aftertaste.

Overall – I had a celebration ale right before this beer.. and they're not that much different. For the price I think I would rather just have 6 celebrations but I'm still happy I gave it a try. You can really taste the quality ingredients.

2011 harvest. Served cold into an imperial pint glass.

Redish amber color with a slight haze. Thick white head with sticky lace left behind.

Aroma is really nice and hoppy fresh. A nice blend of pine and citrus notes.

Flavor is really pretty intense, even for an IPA. Great hop bitterness but also a good caramel and biscuit malt base. A little bit of spice too makes me think of their Celebration seasonal.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated.

Overall a really good IPA but next year I'll have to get it when it's a little closer to the release date in the fall.

My first review

A: A beautiful orange, a deep honey color. Nice creamy head with great staying power.

S: Citrus, pine, apricots. Comes out after sitting for a few minutes.

T: Amazing balance. No one flavor overrides the other. Citrus, pine and hops fill the mouth. Little after taste. Crisp.

M: Clean, a tiny bit sticky at times.

O: An awesome beer, I wish it was around all year. It has one of the best colors I've seen. Balanced taste. Nice and hoppy. I wish I had gotten a case. If you see it on a local shelf, grab a bottle or regret it.
