This rounds out the anniversary series, and I must say I was most excited for this beer. A melange of Celebration, Pale Ale and Oak Aged Bigfoot.
A- Poured into my newly acquired over sized Duvel tulip, I think I'm more excited about the glass. A huge eggshell colored head is formed that leaves pretty good lacing. The beer is a nice, clear, dark copper.
S- I can almost smell all three beers separately. Obviously hoppiness is high but its not a hop bomb at all. Large helpings of fresh pine bough and green wood from saplings. Alcohol is much stronger than I had hoped. It gives off a boozy, astringent aroma with a light medicinal undercurrent.
T- Very much like Bigfoot. Lots of pine with splashes of caramel and cracker malts. Ample doses of citrus rinds, grapefruits and orange. The back end is heavy on wood and pine resin.
M- Even carbonation with a near full body. It has a really nice feel but alcohol is a bit too much a part of the game.
D- As I've said, alcohol is a bit too strong here. It isn't hidden very well. This is still the best of the anniversary series and a quite good beer in general.

Haven't had this previously. Just popped it and looking great (deep copper), faint smell from the barrel, and taste has that faint barrel flavor. Has a great Old Ale taste. Doing very well after all these years.

Dark orange and amber color, good 5/6" white head on it. Impressive appearance even for Sierra Nevada. Aroma was lots of that thick crystal malt and C hops giving citrus smells. Some woodsiness to that as well.
Taste had a good amount of grapefruit and caramel. As it warmed the citrus went into tropical territory with mild notes of pineapple. Its a good blend of three all time classics. Kind of surprised you almost get proprietary hop feels out of such traditional hop varieties used in this one.
It was a neat beer, and I'm gonna pop one of the bottles here this summer now that it is a 5 year old beer.
