24 oz. bottle poured into a Spiegelau glass. Bottled on 9/24. Consumed on 10/25.
A - Visually appealing. Red with a slight orange hue. Poured a 2 finger white/beige billowy head. Head decreased but did not dissipate. Strong carbonation. Left defined band of lacing on sides of glass.
S - Mildly fragrant. Black tea, apple, and a slight hint of tropical fruit.
T - Somewhat complex flavor palate, but lacking in intensity. Black tea, rye, lemon, tobacco, and spice. Somewhat stronger backbone for an malt IPA. Lasting tart bitterness.
M - Very nice. Carbonation appropriate and enhances beer. Nice tingle in mouth and luxurious foaming. Beer is filling though.
O - In a blind taste test, I would not call this an IPA... perhaps a cross between a Rye and a Pale Ale. Somewhat boring. Not unpleasant in any way, but the smell and taste which I consider most important are not wholly remarkable. Cheers to those who think highly of this beer, but I will not repeat.
