Bottled 9/19/12, consumed 10/19/12. Poured into a goblet.
Spectacular pour with this beer. Clear, copper, with a 1/4 inch, regenerating, pillowy head. Beautiful.
Aroma is nice- kind of meadowy. Lots of grass and pollen in the aroma, but yet a bit soapy.
The flavor is quite complex and deep. Lots of rye-like spice up front. The primary flavor is like a bulls-eye candy; sweet but rich with caramel. It drinks hotter than 6.7%, which actually just adds to the spice. The hop finish bites dryly in the finish, and adds just a bit of melon to the flavor.
This brew feels nice all around. It's density matches the caramel and sweetness, and the touch of hop in the finish fits in nicely and cleans up well.
This is a wonderful brew, if only for the breadth of flavors it presents. If they jacked this up to 10%, we'd have a world-class American Stong Ale on our hands.
