Poured into a snifter this beer is brilliantly clear very, very, deep amber with a bright ruby glow when held to a light. The head is off-white, thick, and long lasting with nice lacing. The aroma is medium-high malt, largely caramel and cherry fruit as well as moderately spicy from the yeast. The flavor is moderately malty, kind of biscuity with subtle stone fruits. The finish is slightly dry, aided by the spicy phenols from the yeast. I enjoy the flavor, but nothing out of this world. The body is moderate, quite smooth, and medium-high carbonation. Overall an enjoyable, well crafted dubbel, worth picking up a bottle.
