Poured a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.

A: I'm not sure if I have ever seen a commercial beer with this much sediment. There are literally just thousands of little particles of sediment present in this brew. A very pale body topped with a good amount of head that sticks around along with some darn good lacing.

S: A HUGE hop aroma simply dominates the nose of this brew. Any kind of malt character struggles to get through. But, in this case, it's an imperial IPA, so to put it bluntly, it works nicely.

T&M: Taste follows the nose, but there is just a slight touch of sweetness up front. Hops are all over the place, but interestingly enough, as strong as they are, never seem to get completely out of whack. Notes of lemon, citrus, green apple, pine, and a huge grapefruit character are all very assertive. This double IPA drinks more like a beer in the upper six percent ABV range, as opposed to a beer that is nearly as strong as your average barley wine. A moderate to high level of carbonation combined with a very dry finish, makes this beer pretty much the poster child for a good, very hoppy, double IPA.

D&Notes: The winners at Beer Camp obviously set out to construct a big hop dominated, IPA. All I can say is---they nailed it. While the malt charter is a shadow in the background, this beer never seems to let the hop character get completely out of control. Keep in mind that hops have all kinds of flavors that range from sweet citrus to pine, and of course, bitterness. This beer is a good lesson in what hops can offer. This would be a great one to do as a homebrew.
