I poured this 12 oz. bottle into an large wine glass. Part of the 2011 Beer Camp series.
A: cloudy honey-gold color with lots of suspended yeast floating around, the tan head is thick and long-lasting, the cap and lacing are very good.
S: there is a very pronounced horse sweat funk here, overlaid on top of that there is a goodly amount of pine, floral, and citrus hops, the citrus is more subdued than I expected.
T: a biscuity malt greets the palate along with some honey sweetness, but is quickly overtaken by pine, herbal, grass, floral, and finally citrus hops: drinking this is like taking a tasting tour of a hop garden, the finish is very long, very dry, and very bitter.
M: medium-bodied, oily to silky texture, moderate carbonation, and a mouth-puckering bitter finish.
O: this parades down the spectrum of hop notes like a high school marching band, but in the end it failed to truly wow me. Rather, I found myself just wanting to scrape my tongue! Tasty enough, though, and worthy of checking out if you are a hop head.
