Poured from 12oz bottle. Thanks goes out to betsona for buying the mixed 12pk.
A- Poured a golden yellow color. One and a half finger white head shows medium retention. Ringy style lacing left on the sides of the glass with light streaks here and there.
S- Light citrus hops in the front of the aroma comes out first but doesn't last for long. Bitter hops come out in full force next blending with a caramel malts base. This tends to be the only thing left in the nose except for a almost stale like alcohol aroma. Kind of bland for the style....
T- Bitter hops in the front of the beer goes hand in hand with the caramel malts. This really makes up most of the beer with only a sprinkle of citrus hops in the middle to front of the ending of the beer. The caramel takes charge in the ending of the beer which adds an interesting sweetness that goes hand in hand with the alcoholic finish.
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Caramel malts and piney hops are working hand in hand on the palate and long into the aftertaste with a little help from their friend alcohol. Flavors were a little too well balanced for the style I thought. No off flavors were present. Medium high alcohol drying on the palate.
O- Overall this was just a well balanced DIPA that I could quite get into. I mean it was well made and for that I have no problem. My problem is I was expecting more of a west coast hop bomb and was greeted with a east coast malty balanced beer instead.
