Sierra's website says 8.1% and that this is the Ghidorah Double IPA Beer Camp #29 from 2010. There were 4 of these in the mixed 12pack of 12oz bottles I purchased for around $21 at Bobby's Liquor in San Jose, CA. There were 3 other varieties of 4 bottles each. I pour this one into a large snifter to review.
Very clean and pure pour with a half inch of white, lightly packed head. Transparent and light yellow orange in color. A very nice layer of retention and excellent lacing.
Nose is balanced but hoppy. Orange rind and grapefruit with a notable creaminess keeping it away from boring.
Taste is also creamy up front and quite balanced with with some resin and pine notes coming through and finishing more bitter than I would have expected.
Nice mouthfeel; creamy, mild prickle from the carbonation nice medium to full body and medium hoppy finish.
Overall I'm not blown away from this, but found it rather satisfying. A good beer, but there are many good DIPAs out there these days, I try and seek those that are great.
