Second sampling from the Beer Camp 12 pack.
A -- Hazy peach color with a thick white head that settles too quickly for a Weizen, even a Weizenbock.
S -- Earthiness, spicy phenols, mild banana, mild caramel, some peppery alcohol. Very good nose that really reminds me of Schneiderweiss and Aventinus.
T -- Wheat malts, spicy and fruity esters from the Weizen yeast, some bubblegum, peppery alcohol in the finish. Very good flavors, but I wish there was more Bock maltiness balanced with the wheat character.
M -- Mouthfeel is smooth and soft with a medium body and a dry finish.
O -- This is a good example of a Weizenbock, even if not the best I've ever tried. Even with a good nose and some big character in the flavor, it still doesn't match Aventinus.

Weizenbock is definitely one of the most unheralded and underrated styles out there that lends itself to higher alcohol wheat beers that burst with flavor. Sierra Nevada didn't hit the mark on this one - bland and watered down and lacking any sort of cohesiveness. The yeast profile just needs to be much tighter than this - some clove, peppercorn, sweet bread struggle to stick out. Very disapointing.
