On tap at West End Tavern in Boulder, CO. This beer is supposedly due to collaboration between SN and this bar's owner. Just had a 4 oz sample.

A: Hazy light amber with a one finger head with decent retention. Not much in the way of lacing.

S: Mild smell of honey, lavender and small amount of oat.

T: Like a lavender pale ale. Smooth progression from honey/lavender sweet into hoppy bitterness. Leaves a sweet taste behind. Very unique and quite tasty.

M: The other reviewer said it well...this feels like an IPA. It finishes very smooth with very little alcohol feel despite its 9% ABV. Due to the lavender, not particularly drinkable, however.

O: A good beer, but its success is more based on novelty than quality. This isn't a beer you drink by the pint (4 oz was plenty) or that you could really enjoy with food. For what it is - a quirky limited run ale - a success, but as a staple, eh.

On tap at Max's during Baltimore Beer Week.

The beer pours a solid gold color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose I get considerable honey, vanilla, and a hint of the lavendar as well. The flavor profile replicates the nose, though there is more hoppy bitterness on the finish than I expected. Also, the mouthfeel is fairly lean, which is something I typically associate with a Belgian IPA. Otherwise, this is a pretty solid Belgian style ale, with the hoppy bitterness balancing the moderate sweeetness quite well.

A nice enough beer, though nothing really earth shattering. Sort of think SN should maybe focus their efforts elsewhere.
