A - Served a clear golden-orange color with a big finger of frothy white head. Head fades down slowly leaving behind lots of lace.

S - Aroma is full of citrus and tropical fruit hops with a biscuity and bready malt background.

T - Starts off with a mix of some sweet caramel malt with citrus and tropical fruits coming through including grapefruit and orange. Through the middle, a bit of the biscuit malt flavor comes through alongside some more hop and mild bitterness. Finish is a mix of citrus hops, light bitterness, and a bit of sweet malt.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a lightly dry finish.

D - Very drinkable. Showcases the Citra hop flavor nicely with a nice hop and malt balance.

On-tap at Beachwood Brewing

Pours a clear golden color with a dense white head. A nice floral hop character as well as plenty of bread. Not as citrusy or fruity as I had expected, unfortunately. The flavor is fairly bready, too. There is a nice crispness to it, but sort of lacking the bold hop flavor I was expecting. Floral hop notes, maybe a little bit of pine. Was expecting a bit more from Sierra Nevada.

On tap at URGE. 6.2%. Described as an IPA.

A: Burnished yellow gold with two fingers of dense white sea foam. Perfect clarity, good retention, and lots of lacing.

S: Aromatic orange and lemon with light tangerine and grapefruit. Malt is grainy. Spicy floral notes are evident.

T: Grainy, biscuity malt with notes of lemon, orange, and tangerine. Moderately bitter and pretty dry.

M: Upper light body with lower high carbonation.

Overall: Okay. Not really what I was expecting from a single hop Citra IPA.

On tap at Pizz Port Carlsbad

My pint glass of 20th St. Pale Ale - Citra arrives with a finger or so of rocky white foam floating atop the amber colored brew. Head sticks around for awhile and leaves thick, sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma is of pale malt and citrusy hops. Taste opens with big grapefruit notes. Initial citrus rind bitterness is mellowed a bit by a nice biscuity malt presence mid-palate, but returns towards the end. The finish is clean, dry and bitter with a lingering bitter aftertaste. Feel is light. A prickly level of carbonation adds to the experience and makes the beer lively and refreshing. A nice example of a Pale Ale. Good hop bitterness and drinkability at 6.7% ABV. It's not on the same level as Zombie Dust or Hoppy Birthday, but it's a good beer that I'd have again.

On tap at O'Brien's

A: Clear golden color with a 1/2 finger creamy white head. Huge rings of lace down the glass.

S: Big, juicy citrus hop character. Lots of grapefruit, candied orange and a bit of pine. A hint of granny smith apple as well.

T: Pretty good sharp hop bite right away. Lots of pine and hop resin with a pretty good biscuity malt backbone.
